Roads fail for one boring reason. The traffic loading was wrong. Guess the heavy-vehicle spectrum badly and you either under-build (cracks by year three) or over-build (client asks why the bill doubled). ALIZE 2 settles that argument. It's the French rational method, SETRA and LCPC, implemented properly.
The flow is simple. Pick your traffic categories, define the layers, run the fatigue analysis. Treated base and sub-base, multi-layer modelling, sensitivity studies. Standard materials come pre-loaded, so common sections aren't rebuilt from scratch every time. Deformation charts make the numbers explainable when a project manager wants to know why.
Airport pavements use the same engine. Handy if your office does both roads and airfields.
Fair warning. ALIZE is a specialist tool. Rural access road, light traffic, three layers? A general civil package is probably enough. It earns its keep on highways, industrial platforms and aeronautical work, where getting the structure wrong means ripping it out.
